Director Statement: I was first introduced to Rebecca Nyahay and Raushanah Simmons through friends in New York. They were looking for a female action director to lead the predominantly female crew they had assembled and I was honored to be on their short list. When they started to discuss Blackwell Summers Mysteries with me and introduced me to the characters of Grace Blackwell and Raven Summers there was no choice in my mind… I would fly to New York and sleep on friend’s couches to direct this movie.
I loved having the opportunity to play in a legendary time period and create such a thrilling, bad-ass and fun story. Strong lights in bright colors, vibrant wardrobe, dramatic action scenes paired with subtle, funny character moments – these were my vision for the story. It was also a unique chance to work with a team of women as creative, driven, and tirelessly passionate as I am. Blackwell Summers Mysteries would never have been possible without the unparalleled team effort guiding it forward. I’m honored to have been a part of this project and proud from the first moment that deep bass starts to strum.
