Title: King of Rock

Logline: Zhang Wu is a promising Aussie Mountain biker of Chinese descent trying to take the next step in his Pro riding career. Meanwhile his brother is killed by skinheads and his mother is held ransom by Asian gangsters while he mourns the loss of his mountain biking mentor in a freak down hill crash. Zhang needs to win the world championship to pay his mother’s ransom.

Synopsis: Zhang Wu is torn between continuing his life in the family restaurant business or following his heart into the world of professional Mountain Biking. Zhang upsets his brother Chen by skipping work to train with his mentor, world champion Robbie Parker. Chen upsets Zhang and the rest of his family with his drug, alcohol and gambling problems. Chen reveals to Zhang that he has a $50,000 gambling debt to a local Asian crime boss that must be paid in 24 hours or he will start killing family members. Chen is killed in a gang fight on his way home from the casino and the local crime boss takes pity on Zhang allowing him two weeks to pay back the money. He also holds Zhangs mother for ransom. Zhang promises to kill the gangsters if they harm his mother. Zhang must compete overseas and win a world championship event that will claim the life of his mentor to raise the money for the ransom. Zhang wins the event and returns to pay the ransom discovering that his mother has been hurt by the gangsters. He must deliver on his promise and return his mother to safety.
